Deep Heating

Many tightening devices use bipolar heating, in which energy flows between two electrodes for shallow, localized heat distribution. Thermage, on the other hand, uses patented monopolar delivery, enabling RF energy to penetrate deep into the dermis and subcutaneous tissue, where it tightens existing collagen and stimulates new growth.

Uniform Distribution

The Thermage system includes a selection of treatment tips for different body areas, skin conditions and desired outcomes. One reason these tips are so effective is our patented invention of capacitive coupling. This technology distributes RF energy uniformly across the surface of the tip, rather than at the edge of the electrodes. The result is a controlled and consistent delivery of heat into a targeted volume of tissue.

Protection of the Epidermis

The Thermage system has a patented method for integrated cooling. During the procedure, precisely controlled coolant is delivered to the membrane of the Thermage treatment tip. This technology creates a reverse thermal gradient, which heats the deeper tissues at a higher temperature while protecting the epidermis.

Comfort Pulse Technology is an energy delivery method designed to improve patient comfort while maximizing efficacy.
The Thermage CPT System and the 16.0 body handpiece enables this innovative technology to deliver the energy with short, rapid pulses at varying energy levels over the duration of the radiofrequency energy Pulse, this provides deep heating of the tissue at a therapeutic level that patients find easily tolerable.

The Thermage CPT includes a vibrating handpiece to further enhance patient comfort.

Thermage is the only device to use monopolar capacitively coupled radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten and contour skin. That patented technology means deep, uniform, volumetric heating that other systems simply can't deliver.

Whereas light-based devices and other RF technologies treat the superficial skin layers, Thermage can reach deep into the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. There, the fibrous septae provide the path of least resistance for the energy, which enables selective heating of septae collagen for 3-D tightening. See video.
